Bluff City Express Gears Up for Exciting Spring and Summer Basketball Events

Coach Erk and BCE after Satudays Playday.

On a brisk Saturday morning in Memphis, the Bluff City Express basketball team, led by the enthusiastic Coach Carl Erskine Davis Jr., also known as Coach Erk, participated in a spirited playday hosted by UED Elite. The event, filled with camaraderie and competition, was part of the team's continuous efforts to engage in local and regional sports events, honing their skills and teamwork.

Coach Erk shared insights into the team’s bustling schedule, emphasizing that today's games are a small part of a larger journey. "Today was just a playday," he explained. "We're still competing in the Hoop City Spring League and looking forward to participating in the Memphis Connect spring/summer league."

In an exciting development for the team, Coach Erk announced that Bluff City Express will host its event, the BCE Madness Playday, on Saturday, April 26. The purpose of this playday is to raise funds for an upcoming out-of-town tournament, marking a pivotal moment in the team's season. "It's all about providing these kids with the best experiences on and off the court," Coach Erk noted.

The out-of-town tournament is none other than the Reebok Summer Championships in Paducah, Kentucky, scheduled for June 1-2. This invitation-only event is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Bluff City Express players and their coach. Coach Erk sees it as a valuable opportunity for the team to showcase their talent on a larger stage and gain invaluable experience.

The season is set to wrap up at the end of June, but not before the team celebrates their accomplishments with an annual banquet in July. This event is designed to recognize the student-athletes commitment and hard work over the past seven months. Coach Erk looks forward to celebrating each player's many achievements and personal growth.
