Southwind High Jaguars Gear Up for Promising 2024-25 Season After A Undefeated Regular Season.

The Southwind High Jaguars are gearing up for the 2024-25 football season with high expectations following an undefeated regular season last year. Head Coach Jerome Griffin, who also teaches ninth-grade physical science at Southwind High School, shared insights on the team's preparation and aspirations during an exclusive interview.

"Last year, we had a great season," Griffin reflected. "We went 10-0 in the regular season and made it to the semifinals, where we lost to a really good Page team. It gave us a lot to build on and look forward to for this upcoming year. We know the areas we need to work on to get to the state championship game."

As the team transitions from last year's success, they are focusing on conditioning and daily improvement. Griffin emphasized the importance of hard work, focus, and discipline. "Right now, we're going into some conditioning. We need to work hard every day, be focused, be disciplined, and just go 1-0 to start the season. We aim to dominate and move forward from there."

The Jaguars boast a robust lineup with a blend of seasoned players and promising newcomers from their junior varsity team. "We have young kids that have been waiting for an opportunity to play. It's their time to shine," Griffin said. "We have some good ninth graders coming in, and we're focused on developing their talent."

Griffin's approach extends beyond the football field, as he aims to mold his players into responsible young men. "I like to take ninth graders and help them develop into young men. I want to show them the importance of focus and discipline in school, getting higher grades, and having goals beyond professional football," he explained. "That discipline will carry from the school to the football field."

With a holistic approach to development and a commitment to excellence, Coach Griffin and the Southwind High Jaguars are poised to build on last year's success and make a strong push for the state championship. The team's dedication to discipline and hard work sets a solid foundation for a promising season ahead.
